Meet Our Finance Director

We regularly post info here from our Creative Learning projects, news about our concerts and updates from our Development team but we very rarely hear from our Finance team. So we asked our Finance Director, Paul O'Brien, a few questions about himself...

When are you happiest?
In a hammock on a beach somewhere tropical, mojito in one hand and a good book in the other.

What is your greatest fear?
I don’t really have any ‘real’ fears and consider myself a logical person but then for some reason I can’t sit through horror movies at all. Particularly anything paranormal involving children with revolving heads and speaking in creepy voices, I wouldn’t even be able to sit through the trailer with my eyes open. I watched The Shining years ago without realising what it was about and I’m still traumatised by empty hotel corridors and children on tricycles.

What is your earliest musical memory?
Trying to play Three Blind Mice on the recorder at infant school.

What is your most treasured possession?
My family.

What would your super power be?
The ability to detect lies. It would be immensely useful in most situations but having moved house 3 times in five years it would be particularly potent against estate agents.

If you were an animal what would you be?
A Galapagos Island giant tortoise, now that people have stopped eating them.

What is your favourite book?
It is a tie between Catch-22 by Joseph Heller and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Strictly Come Dancing. A new series has just started, life is complete again.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
I could name lots of famous people but I’d rather be at a dinner party with family and friends…and Stephen Fry.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
Just to not lose sight of what is really important in your life.
